News: Head-on collision at Kansas City intersection leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

KANSAS CITY, MO – Two cars were involved in a fatal wrong-way collision in Kansas City at about midnight on Friday, WDAF reports.

 

Police were called to the scene at the intersection of Oldham Road and Oakwood Avenue. Officers learned that the driver of a Hyundai Elentra was heading north in the southbound lanes of Oldham Road, and collided with a southbound Dodge Durango head-on.

 

The driver of the Hyundai, whose name was not yet released, died at the scene. The person was not wearing a seat belt, police said. The driver of the Dodge and a child passenger sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, and were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
