News: Driver seriously injured in collision with tractor-trailer in Pettis County

PETTIS COUNTY, MO – A driver was injured when her car collided with a tractor-trailer in Pettis County on Thursday morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The MSHP’s crash report said the vehicles crashed on Route V westbound east of Moriarty Road at 10:35 p.m.

According to state troopers, the driver of a 2011 Peterbilt tractor-trailer crossed over the center line and was travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes.  The driver of a 2006 Chevrolet HHR attempted to swerve to avoid a collision but was not able to and the Chevrolet was hit nearly head-on by the truck.  Both vehicles went off the north side of the roadway and the Peterbilt struck a fence before coming to rest.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 55-year-old Autumn Gilpin of Stover, Missouri, was transported to Bothwell Hospital with serious injuries.  No other injuries were reported.  The driver of the tractor-trailer was a 37-year-old man from Cole Camp, Missouri.
