News: 1 dead in hit-and-run crash involving stolen car at KC intersection

KANSAS CITY, MO – Police in Kansas City are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident involving a stolen vehicle, the Kansas City Star reports.

 

The incident occurred Monday evening in the Santa Fe neighborhood, in the vicinity of Agnes Avenue and East 31st Street.

 

Police arrived on the scene after the wreck occurred just before 6 p.m.  An initial investigation determined that the driver of a Hyundai Sonata reported stolen was driving at high speed on Agnes Avenue in the wrong direction.  The Hyundai collided with a Cadillac STS sedan at the intersection with 31st Street.  The driver of the Cadillac was pronounced dead at the scene.  No one else was in the car.

 

The driver and other occupants of the stolen vehicle reportedly fled the scene on foot.
