KANSAS CITY, MO – A driver was killed in a crash following an attempted traffic stop in Kansas City early Sunday morning, police said.
According to a report by KSHB, the incident began at about 1:30 a.m. when police in Prairie Village tried to stop a Chevrolet Malibu for a traffic violation.
Authorities said the driver did not stop and took off heading east at a high rate of speed, even though police were not conducting a pursuit.
After entering Missouri, the Chevrolet went across a grassy median and crashed into two trees in the area of West 63rd Street and State Line Road. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car and died at the scene. The individual’s name was not released.
