KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred Tuesday night on 71 Highway, according to the Kansas City Star.
Police said a Chrysler 200 was stopped at a red light on 71 Highway at 59th Street shortly before 9:30 p.m. The driver of a Chevrolet Cruz was heading south on the highway at a high rate of speed and crashed into the rear of the Chrysler.
The Chrysler driver, whose name has not been released, died at the scene. The driver was not wearing a seat belt, police said. The front seat passenger in the Chevrolet was critically injured.
The driver and back seat passenger of the Chevrolet fled the scene on foot after the wreck.
