News: Driver critically injured in SUV crash on U.S. Highway 71 in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – A single-vehicle crash in Kansas City on Sunday morning left a woman critically injured, police said.

 

KCTV reports the accident happened in the area of U.S. Highway 71 and 77th Street, where emergency crews arrived shortly before 8:30 a.m.

 

The Kansas City Police Department said a woman was driving a Chrysler 200 SUV north at high speed and lost control as she approached slower traffic.  The vehicle went off the left side of the roadway, hit soft grass and flipped before crashing into a barrier.

 

The driver, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was transported to an area hospital with what were reported to be life-threatening injuries.
