KANSAS CITY, MO – Police said a mattress in the roadway was to blame for a crash that injured two people in Kansas City on Friday afternoon.
According to KCTV, the accident happened on Interstate 435 shortly before 5 p.m. Police said the driver of a Toyota Sequoia was headed south on I-435 and noticed a mattress in the lane before the Shoal Creek Parkway exit.
When he tried to avoid it, the driver swerved to the left, overcorrected back onto I-435, and the car then flipped multiple times. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and may have been partially ejected, police said. He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. A passenger was also hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.
