News: Collision on Highway 50 north of Warrensburg sends 3 to hospital

WARRENSBURG, MO – A rear-end collision in Johnson County on Sunday afternoon sent three people to the hospital, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

State troopers and first responders were called to the area of westbound U.S. 50 and Maguire Street north of Warrensburg, according to the MSHP’s accident report.

An investigation determined that 18-year-old Peyton J. Anderson of Grain Valley, Missouri was driving a 2008 Dodge at about 2:30 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle.  The Dodge crashed into the back of a 2008 Honda driven by 59-year-old James D. Lyle of Independence, Missouri.   The impact caused both vehicles to travel off the right side of the roadway and hit a ditch.

Anderson was taken to Western Missouri Medical Center with injuries that were serious but not life-threatening.  Lyle’s passenger, Kelly D. Lyle, 62, of Independence, was taken to Centerpoint Medical Center also with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Lyle was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center with moderate injuries. Everyone except Anderson was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
