News: Collision involving car and tractor-trailer on U.S. 71 Highway leaves 2 hospitalized

KANSAS CITY, MO – A collision in Kansas City involving a car and a truck sent two people to the hospital Monday evening, KSHB reports.

 

Police said a Mini Cooper and a tractor-trailer were both headed north on U.S. 71 Highway when the crash occurred at about 7:15 p.m.

 

According to investigators, the Mini Cooper struck the back of the tractor-trailer in the area of 29th Street, causing the car to veer off the highway where it ended up against a center median barrier.

 

The driver and a passenger in the Mini Cooper were critically injured and transported to an area hospital.  No one in the tractor-trailer was injured.

 

The northbound lanes of U.S. 71 Highway were shut down for about an hour and a half while the scene was being cleared.
