JACKSON COUNTY, MO – One person was killed and two others injured in a crash in Jackson County on Thursday afternoon, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.
The incident took place on Missouri 291 Highway at Cement City Road. The MSHP said the driver of a 2005 Mercedes Benz made a left turn onto Cement City Road shortly before 12:30 p.m. and failed to yield to another vehicle, a 2017 Nissan Sentra.
The Nissan struck the passenger side of the Mercedes, sending both vehicles off the roadway. A passenger in the Mercedes, 43-year-old Heather Cearley of Blue Springs, Missouri, was killed in the wreck. The driver of the Mercedes, 47-year-old Todd Frisbie of Grain Valley, Missouri, and the driver of the Nissan, 42-year-old Amy Parrett of Kearney, Missouri, were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries.
State troopers said Cearley and Parrett were wearing seat belts but it was not known whether Frisbie was wearing a seat belt.
