INDEPENDENCE, MO – An elderly bicycle rider was fatally struck by a vehicle in Independence last week, police said.
KCTV reports the incident happened at the intersection of Little Blue Parkway and RD Mize Road.
An investigation indicated that the driver of a Buick Rendesvous going north on Little Blue Parkway failed to stop at a red light. The Buick collided with a Dodge Dakota traveling east at about 2:15 p.m.
The Buick then spun through the intersection and hit a man riding a bicycle, 75-year-old Stephen Maginness of Independence. He was pronounced dead after being transported to an area hospital.
