News: 4 injured, including 2 children, in Johnson County crash

JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – Four people were injured in a collision in Johnson County on Monday afternoon, state troopers said.

The crash occurred on Route Z north of County Road 930 at 1:35 p.m., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s accident report.

An investigation determined that the driver of a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan was heading south on Route Z and crossed over the center line.   When the vehicle swerved back into the lane of traffic, it was struck on the driver’s side by a northbound 2005 Dodge Ram 3500.

The driver of the Ram, 42-year-old Jose Hernandez-Garcia of Kansas City, Kansas, and the driver of the Grand Caravan, 28-year-old Samantha Anderson of Bates City, Missouri, were seriously injured. Two children in Anderson’s vehicle were also hurt, a 4-year-old boy who suffered moderate injuries and a 2-year-old boy with minor injuries. All four were taken to Centerpoint Hospital of Lee’s Summit.
