News: 3 injured, 2 seriously, in rear-end collision on northbound Business 49

BATES COUNTY, M0 – The Missouri State Highway Patrol said three people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Bates County on Saturday afternoon.


According to the MSHP’s crash report, the incident happened on northbound Business 49 at NW 6002nd Street at 12:10 p.m.


State troopers learned that the driver of a 2011 GMC Sierra struck the back of a 2020 Ford Escape, and the Escape crashed into the rear of a 2007 Ford Taurus that was stopped in the roadway to make a left turn.


The driver of the Escape, 38-year-old Marvin Norman, and a passenger, 67-year-old Gwendolyn Norman, were seriously injured and transported to Research Main Hospital. The driver of the Sierra, a 16-year-old girl, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Bates County Memorial Hospital. All three injured victims are from Butler, Missouri. They were all wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
