PLATTE COUNTY, MO – The Missouri State Highway Patrol said two pedestrians were injured after being struck by vehicles on Interstate 29 in Platte County on Thursday evening.
According to the MSHP’s accident report, a northbound 2004 Ford F-250 struck one pedestrian on I-29 at 6:42 p.m. The front of the Ford then struck the front of a southbound 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. The back of the Tahoe hit the second pedestrian and then hit the rear of a 1998 GMC Yukon, pinning that pedestrian between the Tahoe and the Yukon.
The first pedestrian struck, 25-year-old Miguel Luna of Kansas City, Kansas, sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment. The second pedestrian, 58-year-old Stanford Clark of Kansas City, Missouri, was seriously injured and transported to Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph.
State troopers were assisted at the scene by the Platte County Sheriff’s Department.
