News: 2 drivers injured, 1 seriously, when box truck rear-ends vehicle in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, MO – The Missouri State Highway Patrol said two people were injured in a crash on Interstate 70 in Jackson County on Monday evening.

 

In its accident log, the MSHP said the incident took place on I-70 east, east of Lefholz Road at about 7:35 p.m.

 

According to state troopers, it happened as a 1999 Chevrolet S10 was stationary with no lights on in the right lane of traffic. A 2015 Isuzu box truck hit the back of the Chevrolet, causing the driver of the Chevrolet to be thrown from the vehicle.

 

Both vehicles then came to rest off the right side of the roadway. The Chevrolet driver, 53-year-old Jay Brunk of Independence, was transported to Research Hospital with serious injuries. The Isuzu driver, 36-year-old Skler Easterling of Blue Springs, had minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene.
