News: 2 dead in head-on collision involving wrong-way driver on I-435

KANSAS CITY, MO – A crash involving a fleeing robbery suspect left two people dead early Tuesday morning, Kansas City police said.

 

According to KSHB, the incident began when police began pursuing an armed man driving a Dodge Challenger on Missouri 210 Highway at about 4:30 a.m. The driver was suspected in robberies at three Kansas City convenience stores.

 

Police said the driver began going in the wrong direction on I-435 northbound and collided head-on with another vehicle. The suspect and the driver of the other vehicle were killed in the wreck.

 

Authorities shut down the northbound lanes of I-435 in the area for about five hours while an investigation was conducted into the incident.
