BLUE SPRINGS, MO – One teenager was killed and two others were injured in a collision that occurred in Jackson County on Saturday night, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The MSHP’s crash report said that the incident happened on Interstate 70 westbound near NW R D Mize Road in Blue Springs at 8:46 p.m.
An investigation determined that the driver of a 1995 Toyota Tacoma attempted to cut in on a 2019 Lexus as both vehicles were heading west. The Lexus struck the front passenger side of the Toyota and the Toyota overturned, ejecting all three occupants.
One passenger, a 15-year-old boy, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 17-year-old boy, and another passenger, 19-year-old Kevin D. Pacheco, were seriously injured and taken to Centerpoint Medical Center. All three, residents of Kansas City, Missouri, were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
