KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City police are investigating a collision that left a driver critically injured Sunday evening, KSHB reports.

The accident happened in the vicinity of Truman Road and Hardesty Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. Investigators said the driver of a Ford Explorer headed east on Truman Road crashed into a Honda Civic that was making a turn into a gas station. The Ford went off the road, onto a curb and hit an electrical pole before overturning.

The driver of the Ford was hospitalized with critical injuries but was later listed in stable condition. The other driver was not injured. Police said impairment is suspected to have been a contributing factor in the incident.
