News: 1 driver dead, 1 injured following head-on collision in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, MO – A head-on collision in Kansas City on Friday morning left one of the drivers dead and the other hospitalized, the Kansas City Star reports.

 

The Kansas City Police Department released details of the wreck that occurred in the area of North Platte Purchase Drive and Northwest 82nd Street.

 

An initial investigation determined that the driver of a Tesla 3 was speeding while heading south on North Platte Purchase Drive shortly before 7:30 a.m. The Tesla driver did not turn with the curve of the road, went over the yellow center line and collided with a Buick Encore headed north, according to police.

 

The Buick driver, a female, died after being taken to an area hospital. She was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred. The Tesla driver was hospitalized with critical injuries.
