KANSAS CITY, MO – Kansas City police are investigating an accident on Monday night that left a motorcycle rider critically injured.
A report by KSHB stated that the crash occurred on U.S. 40 Highway near Phelps Road at about 7:40 p.m.
Police said the driver of a BMW was making a turn east from U.S. 40 Highway onto Phelps Road and turned in front of a Tao motorcycle that was headed west on the highway. The vehicles collided and the motorcycle rider hit the car’s windshield.
The rider was critically injured and was transported to an area hospital. The BMW driver stayed at the scene after the accident.
Investigators are now trying to determine whether the BMW driver was impaired at the time the incident occurred.
