KANSAS CITY, MO – Three pedestrians were rushed to the hospital after they were struck by a vehicle in Kansas City on Sunday morning, reports Fox4KC.
The accident happened on northbound Interstate 35 near Paseo Boulevard, where police responded to the scene at about 11:20 a.m. Investigators determined that the three pedestrians were standing outside a Toyota Corolla that was stopped on the right shoulder of the highway.
At the same time, a Dodge Ram 2500 pulling a trailer was heading north on I-35, and braked and swerved to the right to avoid traffic that was stopping on the highway. According to police, the Dodge struck the Toyota and the three pedestrians on the shoulder.
All three were transported to an area hospital with injuries believed to be life-threatening. Two of the victims were listed in critical condition while the other was in stable condition.
All lanes of northbound I-35 were closed at Admiral Boulevard for several hours for the crash response and investigation.
